I am just a beginner at this networking stuff myself, but i believe the answer to
your question is No. file and print sharing is not a requirement to "see" other
nodes on your network. However, you must be in the same workgroup. That much I believe
is true. The file and print sharing selection is only necessary to transfer or access
data from other puters or nodes in your workgroup or domain. As long as your connected
within a peer to peer workgroup or a client/server domain, and have the proper topigraphical
connections..ie hub...you should "see" the other nodes in the network...(this is
my best guess), Hope its helpful !
