Question about 'Prevent Programs From Changing Your File Types'

I have a question about Prevent
Programs From Changing Your File Types:
Windows 95 v4.00.950B; IE 5.0; 233Mhz; 64 MB RAM
I recently switched over from my AOL dial up service, to Comcast@home cable access.
After installing their web browser, I didn't like it, and uninstalled it. Now,
when I click on some hyperlinks, I get a Windows
error message that says,
"Program Not Found. Windows can not find Home.exe. This program is needed for opening
files of type 'URL: Hyper Text Transfer Protocol.'
It happens with hyperlinks that are imbedded in Outlook Express email messages, as
well as when I click the "Check for Upgrade" radio buttons in various installed programs.
I went to the HTML Documents file, clicked 'Edit',
hilited 'Open', and clicked 'Edit'. I saw that the file association designated the
application to perform the action was identified as,
files\@home\ATHMWWW\Home.exe""%1
I changed it to,
"C:\PROGRA~1\INTERN~1\iexplore.exe"%1
That's the same as on my other similarly set-up Windows 95, non internet attached
computer I still get the same error message after making the change.
I went back to the file association menu, and when it opened it, I saw that the topmost
box, the one
titled 'Action', has 'Open' spelled 'O&pen'. Could this be some sort of corruption?
I tried to remove the '&', but since the box is inactive, I was unable to do so.
Prior to installing the @home browser, Internet Explorer 5.0 opened HTTP hyperlinks.
How can I enable it to do so again?

Dick, When off-line, right click the IE icon on the desk top, click properties, click
programs and check the box to have IE Check to see if it's the default browser. then,
click "reset web settings" and uncheck the box that says reset my home page. Click
OK to exit. You shouldn't have to reboot, but I would anyway.

Hi Steve, Thank you!! Thank you!! Thank you!! Your suggested "fix" worked perfectly.
I tried the hyperlinks within Outlook Express and the radio button to update my
Zone Alarm. Both of them opened my IE browser. I know my problem was only the kind
of thing which creates an annoyance, but trying to solve it was really driving me
over the edge. You've pulled the thorn out of my paw and I can't thank you enough.

I had my chemdraw files associated with Active Server Files {aspfile}
So I had edited (as show below) to have the Data as "cdxfile" (without the quotes).
Now my chemdraw files show up as they should. Thanks!

to one or more files.
