I have a question about When I choose "Shut Down" from the Start Menu, my computer hangs at the "Please Wait" screen:

Can you tell me which windows 95 file to reload that may take care of this problem.

This is the command line for shutdown:

c:\windows\rundll.exe user.exe,exitwindows

What else is used when this is executed I don't know. Using this line for a desktop
shortcut creates a one click shutdown icon.

The most common causes of windows hanging on shutdown are: 1. a corrupt or missing "Exit windows" sound file. Go to control panel sounds and disable the exit windows sound if enabled and see if that cures the problem. 2. A networked/shared drive that is not "closing" ( responding to an "end task" broadcast )during shutdown. Sometimes merely hitting enter will continue the shutdown for this problem.
