Question about 'How do I set an application's default directory?'

I followed the directions on how to set an application's default directory -- and
it didin't work! Someone please confirm: what I want is to choose in which folder
say, all "Word" files are saved. Right now when I save in "Word", it automatically
starts in, say, the "My Documents" folder. I have move to whatever folder I wish
to save in, and this is the step I'm trying to avoid; I want to jump right to my
desired folder.... so is that not what this article is about? Why isn't it working???
help ! Thankyou

Under EXCEL 2000 goto Tools-->Options-->General Tab
and type your path under default file location.
Under Word 2000 goto Tools-->Options-->File Locations Tab Highlight Documents then
click modify. Enter the path you want to start in.
Try this link for detailed instructions------->http://etcs.ext.missouri.edu/excelchngdefltdir.shtm

I followed the directions from the Missouri web site for Word, but when I go back
and click on File then Open..., I still see the old directory in the "Look in:" field
in the Open window. I did click on all the OK buttons that followed. I also rebooted.
Could there be a box unchecked somehere or another feature or kown bug? JAG

You can use Direct
Folders for this, it allows you setup a default directory for any application.
