I have a question about All of my desktop icons just became corrupted - what do I do?:

I've tried all the fixes listed here but they haven't worked. All my desktop icons remain a purple/pink colour, as well as the icons on the start menu. However the small icons are fine. Can anyone help?

Try reinstalling your video display drivers by removing in Device Mgr. and rebooting....choose have disk and point the location of the correct drivers. CJ

I recently had this problem on several new computers, although they have Win98. I went to Control Panel/Display/Effects and de-selected 'show icons using all possible colors'. I applied this setting, then went back and selected the 'show all possible colours' setting again. Problem seems to have disappeared.

This is what worked for me: In settings, select 256 colors and 640x480 resolution. Click OK. Accept the settings. Go back to properties. Click OFF the "show icons using all possible colors". Click OK and get out of there. Go back to properties. Increase resolution and colors to wanted level. Click OK to apply changes. Then click ON "show icons using all possible colors." It worked for me. Hope it works for all of you.
