i get a disk error MSGCCMCS.DLL ,file is missing

At what point in the start up cycle, and does the computer actually start or does it stop at the error?

it shows up after my desktop is displayed..........it has affected my ability to access hotmail.......

Ah, ok. I beleive the solution is to go to the MSFT site and download and reinstall MSNIM

why would i get a message from the registry editor abot a missing dll file? also what is MSNIM?

The message isn't from the registry editor, also known as regedit. The computer is telling you it can't find a dynamic link library file ( dll ) that is being called for by a program that is trying to load. MSNIM is Microsft Instant Messenger. ( you mentioned Hotmail )Reinstalling Outlook Express may fix the problem. However, the file you mentioned is not a normal Internet Explorer or Outlook Express file.
