Question about 'What to do about a Page-fault, Illegal operation, or Fatal exception Error'

I have a question about What to do about a Page-fault, Illegal operation, or Fatal exception Error:

I get the 'llegal operation' frequently. I'm not sure that it's because I can't shut off ORBITZ and shut down anyway. My big problem is that starting up again, I get the Scandisc going. It finishes by asking me for a choice. I can't make a choice because I have no mouse arrow and ctrl alt delete doesn't work.

When scandisk is running at the DOS level like it is when it runs after an improper shutdown, pressing the keyboard letter corresponding to the highlighted letter from the choice menu selects the choice.
