I have a question about How do I uninstall Windows95?:

My computer came with windows 95...a friend bought me a full version of windows 98...I tried to install it and I got the message that I needed the update, not the full version... I was wondering if there was a way to uninstall the 95 and install the 98 in its place??

if you were trying to install w98 over w95, then that is what appears to be happening. you need to boot using a startup disk with CDROM drivers on it, format the C drive and then install w98 on the clean drive. you can get a w98 bootdisk at www.bootdisk.com. be advised that all data on your C drive will be deleted when you do the format, backup any data to be saved to removable media before doing the format. Boot to windows. Rename all instances of win.com to win.old. Do NOT shutdown or reboot. Put the 98 CD in the drive and run the 98 setup.

Jamie, Did you ever get this to work? I'm just now trying to install 98 over 95 with a complete version, not an upgrade disk, and am having the same problem. Any ideas?
