My problem is that I want to use my paper port one touch scanner but I hooked it up and now when i try to run the program, my computer says that I'm missing MAXKERNL.DLL. So I downloaded MAXKERNL.DLL it but I don't know what to do now. My computer still doesn't recognize the fact that I downloaded it. I would appreciate any responses. Thank you so much. I have a question about What to do about error messages during Windows startup:

Hi I am also having the same problem; I have a 7600 USB ( Visioneer Scanner ) and reports the same problem that I am missing the MAXKERNL.DLL file.. Where do I download it from? I checked the drivers section of the Visioneer website, they don't seem to have much 'input' on this.. ! any help will be appreciated .. Thank you Holy Cow

Hi... I just got the 7600 One Touch Scanner, and I am having the same problems as you all. I downloaded it, and it says that it can't find the maxkernl.dll file, and I even tried attatching it to the C:\windows\systemfolder like you had talked about and it still isn't working for me. What am I doing wrong? Please help. I have windows 98. If anyone has any ideas or can help, please email them to me. Thank you! My email is daisyfuentes21@yahoo.com Jacquie

I am having the same problem. The place is put it in one of the directrories in your path, such as C:\paprport or C:\WINIT\system32. My guess is that the app will find the file, but will be missing another one referenced by maxkernl.dll. Pop

I too am having the same problem, and have been for some time, and get this a few nights ago, I had a virus hit me, I went in and did a clean install, cleaned th drives and everything, the Windows 98 nstallation went real good and everythin on my machine is working like a charm. I thought that well, if I lost everyting, that certainly that message would not come back up, well sure enough, I tried to install the software and drives for the Paperport 7600USB, and when it got done, here comes that same old message. Somebody has got to know what to do to get rid of that. Whatever it is it is blocking the complete installation of the scanner, so therefore we of course cannot use it. I too do not want to buy another one, as this one has hardly been used. Certainly there has to be another way than buy another one to get rid of the MAXKERNL.DLL. I appreciate any help y'all can give, Kaylo

Hey everyone, After many hours of troubleshooting I have finally had success with this problem. The fix is way too long to mention here plus I will have to send you the missing dll's in order to fix this problem. If anyone still needs help with your Visioneer scanner dll issue feel free to email: tstone66@msn.com Put Visioneer scanner as the subject so I know what you need. Thanks!

Hello I have a Visioneer One Touch Scanner 7600 Series and just had to restore my computer. I can NOT find my original installation CD so downloaded the drivers and tried to install it that way, but now come up w/ the same error everyone else has (.DLL file missing MAXKERNL.DLL not found) so now I need the same assistance as all them or some kind of help. I just need to know how to install this .DLL file if I download it, because I've never done this before. Thanks for your time....Renee

You can try www.afreedll.com for missing .dll files. If someone else has it and sees your request here, they can upload it to the site instantly for you.
