After a bad shutdown (apps open) the next boot process cannot find defrag. How can I reconnect? Thanks

Defrag only runs in Windows. Scandisk runs at the DOS lelel after a bad shutdown. Bot to a DOS prompt and type: scandisk and press enter.

Sorry, I meant scandisk. During the reboot the process states that it cannot find scandisk and the system hangs. Isn't there startup file such as config.sys or autoexec.bat file that can be modified to look for and find the scandisk utitility? Thank you

Scandisk on bootup is a function of the msdos.sys file on C:\ However, to run scandisk from dOS just boot to dOS and type scandisk and press enter.
