I am trying to upgrade to Windows 98 from 95... I have the Windows 98 CD but when i run it, i get a message that syas I need a windows 98 'upgrade' disk instead.. any answers????

yes with a bootdisk and at the dos prompt type " ren c:\windows\win.com win.old " with out the quotes " -not the spaces between ren and c:\ and win.com and win.old-----------and then run the install !

I had the same problem as Roy, and so I followed the very clear instructions provided by caperjack to install 98 over 95. It worked, but I also seemed to lose all of my Windows connections to my ISP, my Zip drive, my 3 button mouse, and all of the old software. It looks like I would be better off in terms of hard drive space if I were to just reformat and start over. Am I interpreting this correctly?
