Please help someone i have an old laptop with no cdrom i have the program to make
the 30 floppies to install windows 95 every thing goes fine until cd3 is in and it
asks for cd3 after installing some files from cd3. i looked at the files on the floppy
and noticed disk 2 has precopy 2 on it but no WIN95_02. disk 3 has precopy 3 and
WIN95_03 and the rest seem ok as well. i have tried loads of different things to
'squeeze' the file WIN95_02 onto a floppy but because of it's size i obviously cannot.......it
is 1.67 meg. Obviously one of you brainy so and so's out there know the answer and
i would appreciate the help......thanks, ian

there is a larger format program for floppies that will allow for more than 1.44
MB on the floppy. if the 95 install files would fit on only about 30 floppies, I
would think that using winzip to create a zip file on floppies of the install files
would work. then you would not need to reformat your floppies. then just unzip them
onto the hard drive on your non-CDROM system. Al
p.s. here is a web page that describes how to put the 95 cd onto floppies for use
in an install of 95 w/o CDROM :http://www.btinternet.com/%7Erobert.bale1/bkup/win95backup.htm

thanks al that was an excellent site and explained all i needed to know . I used
winimage to reformat all the floppies to 1.7 meg (allowing all the win95 system files
to be copied to floppy and then put them on the non cdrom laptop. Now all is well
and windows 95 is installed.
Thanks again for your speedy response and help
