The Appearance Tab on Display Properties

I tried to change the scheme in the Appearance Tab,
after I was finished I clicked OK, and it was taking a pretty long time.So I decided
to press Ctrl + alt + Delete to cancel the task, but now I can't enter into Display
Properties again, I had to Restart the Com. to go back to it. But the appearance
tab is still not working! How can I get it to work again?

Open Device manager, Click the plus by Display Adapter, click on the entry that shows
and click remove. Close device manager and restart the computer.
