My hard disk is overflowing and I have a number of DBX files - it seems these are associated with Outlook Express? Can I delete them? Cheers

Yes you can, but you will be deleting any saved emails. It's better to empty the email folders using outlook, and then go to tools > maintenance and delete and compress.
