I have a old computer from a school, 120mhz, (don't laugh), and I took out the network card and added a modem. The modem loaded fine and it connects to my provider, but when I open Internet Explorer it returns a error "a connection with the server could not be established". I am pretty sure the ip address is correct - wouldn't it be if I have a connection?? Is the "winsock.dll" thing my prob? the previous fix cautioned that it was not for win '95. Thanks for your help!

When you get the message try double clicking on the Explorer icon, it might open on a explorer page anyway, you can then put in the address you want. Are your settings correct? Your provider should help you with this.
