Trying to open a MS Word (7.1) document on a Winodws 95 formatted Floppy in Windows 98

Dear All,

I have an old IBM Thinkpad laptop which only has a floppy drive and with Windows
95 on it. I recently formatted a floppy disk on this and saved an MS Word document
(Version 7.1) on it. I have tried to open the floppy disk on another PC with Windows
98 that uses MS Word 97 which will not allow me to do this. Instead it asks me if
I want to format the disk. If I do this I am scared I will lose my saved word document
which is formatted in a different version. I hope I have provided enough info. Is
there any way around this predicament please.

Many thanks
Ben

if you format it you will lose the file. In Explorer can the file be identified? What happens if you double click it?
