I was using an anti virus software with my windows 95, but the program no longer works with 95 due to the updates. Does anyone know of a free program I can run with 95 without problems?

Try AVG antivirus. I recently installed it after uninstalling Antivir, since they
stopped supporting updates for Win95.

Get it at...

Charlie,

I am running AVG-7 and getting regular updates with no problem. And, I am using
Win95a.

Thanks and regards,

Phil

AVG should work on Windows 95. And as an answer to your question about getting Windows 98 for free? Unfortuatley that is not possible. Ebay should have it for about 20 or 30 dollars though. Personally I would recommend not wasting money on Windows 98 because software won't be supporting it much longer.

As if new software was supporting Win95 >;^)

I'd 'waste' the 30 bucks for Win98SE! FAR FAR more software and hardware are supported in their current versions, and even when 98SE isn't supporting the current version, the supported version is 'closer to current' almost all of the time, versus Win95.

USB, even USB 2.0 (3rd party drivers for USB 2.0)

    Firewire

    Windows Media Player 9

    Direct X 9.0c

    Mozilla Firefox

virtually all USB Flash Memory Pocket Drives still have a Win98 driver included

Nero, Professional and OEM current version (take that, Roxio!)

virtually all new printers and scanners, CD/DVD drives

Paint Shop Pro 9 current version (take that, Adobe!)

    BEST 30 bucks you'll ever 'waste' :-D

PS, I like Avast, and am glad it runs on Win95. Win95 with IE 5.5 is still adequate for Net surfing, but I'd pay the 30 bucks just to use Firefox instead!
