system boot failure

Hi, my grandparents have an older computer with win95. Right before windows would
normally come up, the computer states that there is a "disk boot error, please insert
system disk.
I have downloaded and tried every win95 boot disk version that I can find, however
none of them will work. He does not have a win95 setup disk or any of the disks that
came with the computer.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Tanner:
When you say, "I have downloaded and tried every
win95 boot disk version that I can find, however
none of them will work," I wonder if you realize
that downloaded bootdisk programs are just that --
"programs." You have to download the file to the
DESKTOP of a working computer, then double-click
on the downloaded file icon, which will START the
bootdisk-making program.
If you just downloaded the file directly to a
floppy disk, it won't work as a "bootdisk."

In addition to reading the instructions for creating a usable floppy boot disk, there
are help files listed in the sidebar here to look at also. If the old PC never looks
at the floppy when trying to start, it wouldn't make any difference if it was a good
floppy boot disk or not.
You didn't SAY that you heard the system access the floppies you tried. You didn't
SAY that there was any change in the error message. Why not actually describe the
problem with more detail? Including where you got those downloads, and what you
did with them to use them.
Ever since the middle of the old 80286 cpu era, PC's have included a CMOS-stored
BIOS that allowed users to go in and make changes in the "Setup". You need to have
the "Boot Sequence" looking at the floppy FIRST. Change that by pressing whatever
key flashes on the screen during the boot-up, saying "press xxx to enter setup".

I did not download them to my desktop, (XP), however I will try that,
the drive did atleast try to open up the drive, on version b boot disk,
the error message changed slightly but still wouldn't work.
I have tried to go into setup by tapping del, however nothing happens.
I have also tried the F8 key to go into dos, but that will not work either.
I will try downloading the boot disks to my desktop first though and hopefully
that will help.
I would be grateful for any more suggestions in the mean time.
Thank you
