Laptop Keeps Rebooting!

I hadn't used this laptop in a few years and had forgotten the password. So after
eliminating the password from the logon I thought I'd be able to get in.
I just deleted the windows password and on trying to log on the laptop goes through
the motions of getting into windows and abruptly the screen turns black and it starts
to reboot and then comes back to the windows password screen.
The above scenario then repeats itself, and I am unable to get into the laptop.
What can I do to get into the laptop?
Thanks

Generally Windows stores these login passwords in a *.pwl file in the Windows folder.
You could try starting the comp up in Safe Mode and deleting the *.pwl file. The
next time Windows starts up just don't enter a password in the password box and press
OK.

I was able to do so. However, after it accepts the no password setup it begins to
show the window desktop and then within seconds it starts to reboot by itself.
I've shutdown the laptop and then started afresh. Each time the same scenario happens

So it will startup in Safe Mode ok and it won't reboot?
Well Safe Mode only runs the basic programs to get Windows up and running, Systray
and Explorer. So it appears there is something else running in normal mode. As soon
as it starts in normal mode before it reboots do a Ctrl+Alt+Del and see what programs
are listed in Task Manager. Write them down and posted them here.

The following show up in the Task Manager:
1) EXPLORER
2) NWPOPUP
3) SYSTRAY
4) DPMW32
5) IRXFER
Before theUserName/Password screen comes up it also shows a Novell Netware screen
briefly. I am not sure if that has anything to do with it.
Thanks.

EXPLORER and SYSTRAY are normal. LOADWC is used for MSN Messenger. NWPOPUP could
be used for Novell Netware. I don't know why you need that running, I've never had
it running on any of my Win9x systems.
I don't know what DPMW32, IRXFER and LCFEP are for. Try doing a search for these
files and check there properties, it will give you some idea what why are for.

DPMW32 = Netware Distributed Printing Client
IRXFER = Microsoft Infrared Transfer Application
ICFEP = Tivoli Endpoint Managed Environment
My Win95 box runs without any of these.

It is probably the netware program causing the re-boot. Remove it in safe mode if
you don't use it. Or use msconfig to stop it from running at start up if you would
like to salvage it.
