I was trying to install netzero on my laptop, and it stopped and said it couldn't be installed because i didn't have administrator priviliges. Is there any way around this? Thanks.

You don't need administrator priviliges for Win95. Does it ask for a username and
password when the computer starts up?

Are you having trouble installing netzero or geting it to run?

download Microsoft
Dial-up Networking

I am trying to install it from disc. It stops during the installation. I do not need a username or password when the computer starts up. I can get to a password screen by clicking close all programs and sign in as a different user, at the shutdown menu.

So you do have different users? Are you sure its compatable with Win95. I visited their web site and it doesn't what its compatable with, there is no spec given.

I didn't even think of that! Thank you. I just looked, says windows 98 or higher. I guess that's that. I will have to think of something else now. Thanks.

Hi Frank:

There are still a few free or low-cost dial-up ISP
services around that don't require special
installation software like NETZERO does. The
remaining free ISPs are localized by area. Check
this forum for ideas:

You want a service that will allow "DUN". It
works great on Win95. That's how I connect (via
free DUN ISP) when I'm not in my local Burger King
using their free Wi-Fi (which will also work on
Win95).

I did find another free one, I can't recall the name. One problem I have is that the computer is running IE4, and wouldn't do some of the things i want to so. Wireless/wi fi would be the best, and I did read the other thread on that...some of it i didn't really understand. My local mcDonalds has wifi too...that would be cool to use on my lunch break.

IE4 is severely outdated (and so is IE5.x). Do yourself a favour and get Firefox 1.5, SeaMonkey or Opera.

If possible, get rid of IE4, it's integrated into your system, and makes it unstable.
