Formatting a Win 95 Dell latitude

Hello all, I recently was given a Dell Latitude laptop with Win2K loaded on it. I'm trying to figure out how to format the HD so that I can make a clean install of Win98. My current laptop as this one doesn't have a floppy drive. How on Earth do I get this older Dell wiped clean (I also do not have ANY passwords, so logging in is short of impossible)????? Any ideas???????

Hi Jeff:

Does it have a CDROM drive which it looks at during booting?

Set the BIOS to boot from CD, then use the CD-equivalent of bootable floppy containing
FDISK to remove the NTFS partition(s) and creaste FAT32 partition(s).

If you do not want to make your own bootable CD, there are many free CD images available
for download.

For example, look at "the uluimate boot CD", which contains several disk preparation
tools:

http://ubcd.sourceforge.net/

Note the images are usually in ISO format, menaing that you need CD-writing software,
which supports burn-from-image. Do not simple drag&drop an ISO to a CD.

Your query title said Win95, and if so, this would be the "right" forum, but the message body says Win2000, and this exact same description, maybe even some of the same words, appear in a message thread in THAT forum; it appears that both are the same.

It's called Cross-Posting, and is againt the forum rules.
