Seeing other computer

When I use the Ping command, I get a reply no problem, but nothing shows up in Network
Neighborhood. I can; however, access this computer from the other computer. My
subnet Mask is 255.255.255.0, but if I change it to 255.255.0.0 I can see this computer
in Network Neighborhood. I had no problem with XP or Win98 with this exact setup.
What is different in Win95?

There is no user icon in control panel in win95 like win98 has. How do you even
add a user? Someone said that you have to add a user in win95 before the other computer
will show up.

Does your CONTROL PANEL have a PASSWORDS icon?

Hi Mark:
I don't have multiple users or multiple computers
attached to my Win95 computer, so I don't know if
adding another user will help you, but here's how
you add another user if you want to try it:
Go to the PASSWORDS control panel in SETTINGS.
Click User Profiles.
Make sure the second option, that users can
customize their desktop settings, is checked. The
next person who logs on to Windows can change
settings without affecting the settings you
prefer. The next time you log on, your settings
will be restored.

Yes, I tried that. When I had just tcp/ip I wasn't seeing even the win95 computer,
but when I added netbeui and ipx/spx this pc would show up in network neighborhood.

This is happening to me too, i've just revived a Win95B computer and am trying to
link thru my router to my WinXP workgroup
when I first installed my ethernet card the computer booted into the network perfectly...
after half an hour the network was lost and i haven't been able to revive the connection
to the WinXP workgroup...
