If I remember correctly, You are using a "full" install version, not an "upgrade".
I think the only way to get around that is to remove all traces of win 95 from the
PC. Drop in another drive to test.
BE SURE YOU CAN REPAIR YOUR BOOT SECTOR BEFORE TRYING THIS!!!!
1. Create a recovery disk
2. Copy all files in c:\ (root)
3. SYS c:\ with a DOS disk
4. Install ME
Finally, I must wonder WHY you want ME. 2k would be a much better choice. Personally,
I would even take the 98 GUI over ME any day.

Cecil:
If your Win95 installation was on a FAT16 partition, you would want to reformat that
as a FAT32 partition. And then try to install WinME.
But, what is more likely is that...
You may have an Computer Manufacturer's OEM version of WinME. Those came with a slightly
different PRECOPY1.CAB file which checks the Bios on your computer to make sure it
is the same manufacturer's computer. In other words, if the Install files are originally
from a DELL, then they may only work on a DELL. If from a GATEWAY, then they may
only work on GATEWAY computer.
The files that do the bios check are inside the PRECOPY1.CAB installation file.
If you had a PRECOPY1.CAB file from a non-OEM version of WinME install, then it should
work.

Do you know which files do the BIOS check? Thanks!
