Disk Error problem reinstalling Windows 95

I have been trying reinstall windows 95 after a reformat on an older laptop computer that doesn't have enough memory to install a later version. I have complete set of floppy disks plus update version in separate set. Problem is that disk 14 in original set must have something wrong with it as it read "disk error" when installing. I have tried bypassing it but it must have essential drivers on it. I hate to buy a whole new set when I already have 2 licenses for this product. This computer also has a CD insert drive that can replace the floppy insert but it needs a driver called "banana" that the computer doesn't have. I think I must get the get windows on the computer first, then install a banana driver to accept the CD insert. Any idea where I can get disk 14 or a fix for it? Or if I can find someone with a window 95 on CD how to get the computer to accept the CD drive without "banana" driver? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Renie

I've been through a Win95 on a few computers, and never heard of this banana driver. Are you sure your copy of Windows is genuine? Nevertheless, you can probably pick up a preowned copy on CD quite cheap on a "yard sale" or similar. It would probably cost you about £5 ($10). Just make sure you use the product key you already have, you don't know what other people have done with their versions of Windows.

You got your bootdisk from BOOTDISK.COM didn't
you?

The "banana" driver is the name that is assigned in
the CONFIG.SYS and AUTOEXEC.BAT files that come
on that bootdisk. If you're not using a CDROM at all,
the missing "banana" driver won't affect anything at all.

Thanks for your reply. I would like to be able to use the CD Rom drive after I get windows installed but my Windows 95 is on floppies and # 14 is a bad disk I guess. There are 29 disks and computer came preloaded with instructions to use your own disks (labels were supplies). Apparently the disk was not good in the beginning. If I could get the 14th disk or the drivers that are on that disk I could probably succeed in installing. I hoped there might be a place someone would know of to get that info..... This is a Canon Innova 350 CD Notebook computer that my mother purchased about 10 years ago. I have a desktop myself with XP but would like this to use for wordprocessing. I let one of my students use it and they messed it up so now I'm trying to fix something I don't have a lot of experience with. I have Windows 98 but computer doesn't have enough memory to run it. I tried EBay but don't want to spend $40 for something I've already got 2 licenses for. The floppy drive and CDRom drive are interchangeable but not in at the same time so have to use one or the other. Would I be further ahead to find someone with a CD for Windows 95? Would it have the boot drives on the CD so I don't need "banana"? Thanks for your help?
