You'll be able to install it, but it won't boot. You'll have to manually install
this
update. It fixes a timing problem that is the cause of Windows 95 not booting
at high processor speeds.

Hi Daryl:
If you have trouble installing Benoit's patch,
you'll find some more tips here:

The link you provided leads to

Hi Tom:
Try this link for the Microsoft patch download:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/q192841/
(Microsoft frequently rearranges its web site.
Benoit probably saved his link in its old
location.)

Thanx Jerry.
Will it work also on a machine with Intel Celeron
1.7GHz ?
or only on AMD K6 350MHz and above ?

Hi Tom:
I don't know. None of my machines are fast enough
to cause the original Win95-B any problems, so I've
never tried the fix.

As far as I know, the name of the patch is misleading. It's really about the timing
problem that arises from fast CPUs. I think it would work on a Celeron as well.
By the way, a new timing problem arises at 2.1 Ghz. Win98 got a patch for it,
but Win95 didn't.

I'am also trying to install Win95b on HP d220 MT, 2.4 Ghz, 250Mb Ram and 40Gb Hdd.
After using the AMD patch it returns the error: Protection error, you must restart
your computer! Next restart gives the startupmenu. Normalstart returns error message.
Save mode boot ok. I think there must be more to be done, like installing correct
drivers for this "modern" hardware. Chipset, LANadapter etc. But where can I find
these? I'am "Googling" almost a week already. Please help!
