hi i have a problem. i recently installed some files needed to get usb working in windows 95. and for some reason it caused the windows to crazh, it started saying something like this at started * error loading vmm32.dll or something . so i tried to do a repair by reinstalling the windows 95 over. now it loads up windows but i get this error * explorer.exe has caused an error bla bla. and it automatically shuts down. i read online and they said it had something to do with uninstalling internet explorer 4 or sometohing. anyways is there a way to fix this problem?

Hi desrick,

Please tell us exactly what were the files you tried to instal, and what type of USB device, and what was the exact wording of the error messages you received.

these are the files that i installed that crashed it, USBSUPP.exe and USBUPD2.exe . then i started getting a VMM32.vxd or .dll error at the black dos screen. I tried reinstalling windows 95 cause i didnt wanna lose any files. it installed successfully but now every time it starts it says explorer.exe has cause an error and shuts back down automatically.

What version of Windows 95 is this? Right-click on My Computer and choose Properties. Is it Windows 95 A, B, C? The original version? Only B and C can have USB functionality.

i cant get to the my computer to do that , i get the error as soon as the computer loads up. but am sure its version A cause its like the very first version that came out. i was reading something online and they said that am getting the explorer.exe error because i didnt uninstall ie4 before installing the windows 95 again.

Well, that 'something' you read online was off base because IE can be overinstalled
just like windows can.

USB is NOT supported by the first version of 95 - you say you have the first version.
 THIS is the problem.

Get version B or C from ebay today for $20, you'll like it much better.
