Packard Bell computer loading win95

I have a packard bell that is about 4 years old. IT has alot of preloaded PB junk
that seems to cause problems with other software I have loaded. My question, is there
a way to use the (compaion win95 cd) to load win95 without using the master restore
garbage?

Yes. Just reformat your hard disk and install Windows. You don't need all the PB
stuff. The only problem is some PCs have there Bios setup programs on the hard disk.
But, if you have the recovery disk they gave you, you should be OK. Also, once
Windows is reinstalled, that disk should have all the drivers for your peripherals.
If not, before you reinstall Windows, go to your device manager and write down all
the hardware you have. If Windows doesn't detect something correctly after you reinstall,
got to http://www.windrivers.com. They have all the Windows drivers you'd ever need.

I'm having the same problem but Packard Bell gives me no options on what to install
so it keeps stuffing my hard drive with junk. Is there a way to either install just
windows or to delete the junk?

If you are still trying to get Windows 95, you are stuck in the past... Even if I
could, I would never put that old junk on my computer. What I did with my Pack-Mate
7910 is format the hard drive and install Win98. You can easily download it from
a number of file sharing prograns like KaZaA.

finaly gave up and got something eles that was worse (toshbia notbook satalight from
98)

Hi. In some Packard Bell Master/Restore CDs, there'll be an option to "Restore" only
Windows 95. It'll be an option in a list that looks sorta like this:
Windows 95 Only
Factory Condition
Test/Exit
If that doesn't work, theres one trick I did a LONG time ago with the Companion CD.
The Companion CD is a Windows 95b CD without the setup.exe file. What I did was that
I used an older Windows 95 (first release) CD, ran the setup file, then replaced
that CD with the Companion CD when it wanted to run Scandisk. Worked like a charm
=)
If you have any questions, feel free to email me:

depending on the system you have try this insurt master cd into cd-rom drive then
see whats on it, it should have a file something like infman click on it this will
be your packard bell software reload remove the check marks from the box next to
the item and all the packard bell junk is gone you will need to restart your computer
for the new settings to take effect. or in dos mode type d:\win95\ but make sure
you use a a:\reboot disk with the master cd with this option and olso make sure
the a diskette reads the cd-rom drive if not youll need to load a generic driver
from the internet, oakcd rom is a good generic driver,do this and this should let
you add or remove what ever you like.

Hello.
SoftTailAngel, I've been in search of that game for years now (no thanks to the loss
of that old Win95 CD). It's a great game, and I remember decompiling it once to try
to find out how it was made. Unfortunately for me, I was only new to C/C++ then and
hadn't a clue to assembly, and the decompiled version is still here.
My e-mail address (public one) can be taken from my name above. Otherwise, it's the_subtle_hacker@yahoo.com.
Thanks. And more power to you!

game with a monster which you have to dodge at the end. It came with win 95 as well,
but I don't know what that is

Hey I was looking for the Hover! game on Windows 95 to download to my computer. During
my search I came across this site and wondered if any of you found it yet. If so,
could you email me with where to find it? Thanks. My email is sunshinedtm@yahoo.com.

The problem with PB and the NEC custom Windows setups were the company tinkered with
them to make them custom. And they aren't compatible with a lot of crap. Better off
buying 95c off ebay for $10 and installing that on there.

Too OLD, too FAT, too convoluted/ mangled

This thread was hijacked by the copter fliers. Direct eMails aren't at all the usual
operation of Annoyances, and you should have written straight to the person who admitted
having it most recently, not merely increasing the thread size writing to another
copter fan who doesn't have it either. There are better places, if it's public domain,
to get that game.
If it's copyrighted, you can't get it legally by eMail anyway, and Annoyances takes
a very strong anti-piracy stand.
