In response to a question I had on how to restore hard drive files (transferred to
Recycle Bin) if I couldn't boot up, someone suggeste using MS Dos to do this. I
tried this last night but can't get past the Windows 95 setup screen. What do I
need to do to access MS Dos??? Thanks.

I can help you get to DOS, but I am not wure you will be able to do what you want. To
get to DOS, when starting your computer start punching the F8 key when you see the
message starting windows after your bois screen. On the menu that appears you will
have the option to go to "Comand prompt only" use this one (it is dos), but If I
were you, I would select to try and start in "Safe Mode" and try to recover your
files from there. Randy

I have the same issue. But when I clik on Safe Mode option my Windows 98 starts with
Scan Disk, so then I can exit and start with MS DOS.
I have the same questions. How cna I recovery some files from MSWORKS and e-mails
from my inbox ?
Thanks

The thread is four years old!

It's way too old for anyone to consider relevant. I'm not going to read the old
pair of messages to see what you think might have related to your new problem. Maybe
a few people will, but your odds of having someone who has a good answer be among
those few are very low.
Write your own message. Describe your system in some detail. Include error messages
you received, the exact words, mention what you were doing before the waste was thrown
at the fan, and what trouble- shooting work you have done since.
Your odds of fixing the thing will go up several hundred percent!
