This is true --- I found this as a speedup tip, sometime ago, on another site.
I routinely use this file, as I would the msdos.sys file.
So, the question becomes, why have two files processing the same lines, if windows
first processes the winboot.ini file?
Supposedly, you don't even need the msdos.sys file, BUT, I believe certain programs
DO check for it's existence -- so, I simply rem'd out my msdos.sys file lines.
No problems, everything runs just fine.
Does this actually save time on bootup? Supposedly.
It's just one of those built in things that I chose to
take advantage of and it doesn't hurt anything.
Whatever lines you place in the msdos.sys file can be
safely used in the winboot.ini file.
Of course, you MUST BE VERY CAREFUL in editing either one of these and know what
you're doing....
