I agree that TClock is the way to go, but to answer your question...

If you actually had a hex editor like UltraEdit32, your answer would be obvious. A hex editor shows both the hexadecimal values as well as the ascii characters (a,b,c, etc.) to the extent they exist. So you don't have to know what hex valuse correspond to what character, the editor takes care of that.
