I have a question about Share an Internet Connection:

I have DSL via an internal modem, and have tried various internet sharing programs (Wingate, Wooweb) which worked with regular phone lines but not DSL. I finally broke down and bought Windows SE (grrrrr) and went over and over the installation instructions, only to find i have to have an ethernet card that doesn't go anywhere or hook up to anything to make this work???? This is messed up. Can anyone suggest an alternative as I don't have a slot to waste on a second ethernet card that will apparently have nopurpose other than to appear in a list of devices. What a crock to require something so basic and never list it, I hate Microsoft. Thanks for all the other very specific info in this section, it did help me eliminate a couple of other problems.
