Did you use note pad... Most of the other program do not save it as true text...They 
leave hiden tags.... I use notepad to merge stuff all the time... 
I don't like using tweak program.. 
Just a few words of advise about TweakUI
I prefer keeping a list of changes that have been made.. And TweakUI doesn't work 
correctly on a multi user platform...
