Specific window popup (dex.asp) on IE Tuesday, January 15, 2002 at 5:13 pm Windows 98 Annoyances Discussion Forum Posted by Dio Haik (7 messages posted) When I use Internet Explorer (5.0), every 2-3 minutes a new window pops up with this format as the URL: http://dex.asp/?User_ID=dex.asp?User_IP=&User_Browser=IE&User_URL= The time between popups is random and I think depends on the amount of mouse clicks in the browser. I thought it's spyware stuff so I donwloaded and ran ad-aware 5.62 that indeed found and removed some spyware but the window keeps poppin up. This must have started when I downloaded and istalled Kazaa. I don't know how to find what causes this to happen. For your info, I have tried installing IE4 and again IE5 with no result. My system is clean of viruses and trojans, I have formatted and installed Windows 98 just a moth ago. I am asking you if you know what could cause this and a way to eliminate it, through some registry editing or some software.
