I'm not sure if you're interested in downloading a program to take care of hiding all icons, but I use Desktop Reflections from Narrowgate and it's a wonderful program. It allows you to hide the icons either on startup or just a click of the mouse. This is the website:http://www.thenarrowgate.com/dtr.html
