Check out this 
link to see what type of program opens a particular type of file.

Ameirca:exe looks like a program file, but if you look carefully, it has a colon 
in between the filename and the extension, so it is likely that an error has been 
made when associating a file. The only valid punctuation mark between a filename 
and the extension is a full-stop (period).
