it's usually a pretty harmless thing to do, which is why i recommended it. it depends
on the windows install, really - i've known some systems to freeze instead of shutting
down when logos.sys is deleted. in those few cases, creating a new empty text file
by the name of logos.sys usually fixes the problem.
