this:
Please try this:
1. Close all open folders and programs, including Outlook Express.
2. Double-click on the "My Computer" icon on your desktop.
3. When the "My Computer" folder opens, click on the "View" button on the Toolbar,
and then click on "Folder Options." On the Folder Options dialog box, click on the
"View" tab. Scroll down the "Advanced settings" window and uncheck the "Remember
each folder's view settings" box (if it is checked). Click on the "Apply" button,
and then click on the "OK" button.
4. With the "My Computer" folder still open, click on the "Name" column so that the
items are listed in alphabetical order. If the items are already in alphabetical
order, click on the "Name" column twice to reset the alphabetical order. (I am assuming
that you have already selected the "Details" view so that you see the "Name, Type,
Size columns.)
5. Hold down both the Shift+Ctrl keys, and while holding down on these keys, click
on the "X" in the upper right hand corner of the window.
6. Open up Outlook Express and go to a message or message attachment and right click
on that message (or attachment) and click on "Save As." The destination folder items
should now be in alphabetical order.
Please note: If you want to change and maintain the "view order" of individual folders
in the future, you will need to go back to step # 3 and place a check mark in the
"Remember each folder's view setting" and apply that setting. When doing this, it
should not affect the alphabetical listing of the contents of folders.
Obviously I don't know the specifics of your problem but thought you may like to
try this anyhow.
butane (you can find a more detailed work-through of the problem by following the
answer thread to my original message I should think)
