If no go, I believe setting an icon size of 30 or less eliminates these (under 'appearance' tab, in 'display' properties). Another possibility: check a couple registry locations. However, you before make any changes, BACKUP your registry first! Start>Run and type REGEDIT and press enter. Navigate down to the following keys and see if any values are stored in 'IsShortcut'. If they have values, delete the values. HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\lnkfile HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\piffile Close REGEDIT; you may need to restart.
