Ok, first things first. You said you had an "intermittent" blinking link lights. If you have two LED's then one is the link light and the other is an activity indicator (most likely). If the link light is blinking then I would remove all of the networking components including the driver for the NIC in question (You have your Win2K box to find the driver. Hopefully it will fit on a single floppy unless you have a burner and a CDROM drive in the Win98 box. If you don't have a burner then download a file splitter and break the file up over floppy’s). You need a solid link light before you try any other troubleshooting steps (If you had only one LED then it is probably supposed to blink intermittently).
