I'm having the same problem and haven't made progress solving it; I too have to
log off after startup (only on one of my two networked computers), then log back
on before I can see any computers in my network neighborhood - including the one
I'm working from. (Windows 98 SE w/ ethernet 10/100 cards & hub linking two computers).
Everything was fine when I first set up the network, then I had to re-install everything
on the one I'm having this problem with (a friend using my computer to download Napster-type
mp3's & mpg clips "ignored" my McAfee "this is a virus" warning, a symbol of a hand
holding a huge wiggling bug---sheesh!! and he tried to play a girlie clip(?) anyhow!!)
So, every since I reformatted & reinstalled everything, I've had to log off, then
log on again to get the network fully functional.
I hope someone out there knows how to help us!!
