well, i'm all out of ideas (for everyone else, see this post at virtualdr: Topic: Windows crashes if not connected to Internet - yeah, i'm chris wolf. sorry, i haven't had a chance to get back to the thread).

i think you and jtdoom might be on the right track, though... have you tried getting rid of the unneeded protocols and adapters, or don't you know what's needed? if you don't, what type of internet connection do you have?
