with a normal dial-up connection i don't see why you'd need the vpn stuff, unless
you do some work from home and have to access resources on a company network, or
access resources on your home network remotely. you also probably don't need netbeui
unless it serves a specific purpose on your home network... speaking of which, do
you even have a home network? the machine obviously has a network card (or two).
i just realized that i missed systray.exe when i typed up the list of what the applications
were. not that it'll have an impact on this problem, but it's used for the placement
of windows applets in the system tray (little yellow speaker, battery metre, etc).
99% of the time it's not needed for anything else.
