Ok  (print this off to refer to...)

Start 
Run
type regedit
enter
(this opens the registry)

The first item is  HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT
click on the  +  sign beside it to expand it

Scroll down......way down until you come across:

                    lnkfile

Click on that folder

In the right pane , you will see some entries.
One of the is named   " IsShortcut"

Right click on that entry and select "Rename"
Rename it to  "IsShortcutOld "

Continue scrolling down again (in the left pane)
until you find the entry named :

                  piffile

Do the same thing as above - rename the IsShortcut to
IsShortcutOld.....

Close the registry.  (Registry / Exit ) 

Reboot the computer.

If you have followed the instructions to the letter , the arrows
will be gone...
