Does anyone know how to set a soundcard to full duplex that is running at half duplex?
I have a Soundblaster 16 that is capable of going full duplex but I don't know how
to set it. My first guess was that it was a Bios setting because I had tested it
in another machine with the same drivers and it successfully ran the full duplex
option. Basically what I want to do is be able to run 2 sound streams at once (i.e.
MSN Voice/Multiplayer Game Sound) **I know this is possible because a friend of mine
does it**. On some applications I will receive the following error message: "MMSYSTEM004
The specified device is currently in use. Wait until it is free, and then try again".
This could happen for example if I ran a video clip with sound and then opened an
MP3 file. If I did that backwards (Load MP3, then Video Clip) I will get this error:
Some of the streams in this movie are in an unsupported format. The newest information
I have found was from opening an MP3 with Winamp and then attempting to open another
MP3 with Windows Media Player (mplayer2.exe). I received the error message: "The
operation cannot be performed because the pins are not connected". What pins would
that be? Lastly, someone told me to buy a SoundBlaster Live! to resolve the issue
and I am thinking about doing so BUT if I can get this card working then I'll save
myself some money (I don't even know for sure that buying the new card will change
anything). If someone can help me based on the information I have provided, I will
be extremely greatful. Thank you for your time! :) -- P.S. I'd like to apologize
to CGM2 for my reply before. I am sorry, I was just a little enraged because of my
computer problem and I wrote that reply with that anger in mind.
