Hi,
I had a similar problem after re-installing windows, modem would dial and appear
to connect ok, but then I/Explorer would not connect to my ISP or any sites, I found
the cause, but it may not be the same in your case, here's what i did, go to control
panel, double click network, and make sure you see a dial up adaptor, also under
the adaptor, make sure you've got a line that say's "TCP/IP ->Dial Up Adaptor" ,
there may be other lines that include NetBUI etc. Basically these are protocols that
have to be present for windows to recognise the network, in my case I did have a
dial up adaptor, and another line underneath that just displayed "TCP/IP" i.e not
the full string, so I removed and added one, using the options shown, then it worked
ok. Good luck,
