After replying earlier today, I tried the Diagnostic startup - interactively load
device drivers and software. It used the Step-bystep confirmation and started all
files except Config.sys and Autoexec.bat. This solved the problem except my screen
was huge. I then ran this again and introduced the config.sys, autoexec.bat, system.ini
and win.ini - one at a time. I still have the problem fixed. Hooray. The only
problem I have to fix now is to put my sound and vet back on the taskbar.
If you have a boring moment, I do have one more annoying problem on start up. I
set up a user from Control Panel and since then receive an annoying box asking for
my password. I never give a passwork and click OK. I have now removed the User
Name but still get the box with the Cancel option. I removed the *.pwl files from
the computer and it still comes up. Can I run my internet without the Microsoft
Family Logon listed in the Network Components of the control panel. I do have Windows
Logon in the primary network logon section.
Thank you once again for all your trouble. Will now get to fixing the other problems.
Regards
Sue
