Sorry to put a damper on your joy, but my case didn't yield to the solutions suggested. I tried the Charter fix, but got errors labelled Autolt error, with double backslashes in path names, i.e \\Program Files\\messold\\messenger.exe. Whatever I do I get errors with RTCRTP.dll I've deleted it several times, but every time I download messenger again I get the same error. This all happened after a "critical update" from Microsoft which my wife did, now our marriage is almost breaking up and my daughter (who wants to use Messenger) is hardly speaking to me. If it ain't broke, which it wasn't, don't try and fix it.
