Maybe some unwanted .exe is already using your com ports. Go to the DOS prompt after re-booting but before connecting to the 'net and type: netstat -a and you will get a list of items listening for signals from the 'net. You can also run AdAware 5.83, Pest Patrol & SpyBot to see if you have any spyware on your computer. Iain.
