Providing OE has been told to connect via LAN there shouldn't be a problem - are you sure this setting is operational? Assuming OE is nominated as your e-mail programme in IE (Tools>Options>Programs) have you tried retrieving via IE which will in turn utilise OE?! I use Outlook and have never had a problem with my WinGate proxy server on any of the hosts of our home network
