The CDROM drives/controllers are not listed in "device manager" (when the drives are un-recognized); however after disconnecting and reconnecting the drives, you can go to device manager and see a heading for CDROM controllers with my two drives listed underneath, but the next time you boot, the entire heading for cdrom controllers will be gone.
